How I got started
I would have to attribute my new found interest in Astronomy to my 2 children. It was a late summer evening in 2002 and we where just getting home from an outing. It was just such a perfect clear night. My daughter said, "Hey, look at those stars up there." She was looking at the Pleiades Cluster. Neither one of us had ever seen this before. I went in the house and brought out the binoculars. It was a great view. After seeing this I started wondering what else have I been missing?
I knew my Son was heading back to school soon, and that they had an observatory on his campus. So I asked him if there was any chance of using it. There was! He had volunteered to host the public open house in the tower that October. I met him there and had the chance to also help out that night. When we zeroed in on the Ring Nebula, I was hooked! What a sight.
